A pleasant surprise will greet nearly a quarter million people distributing candy at their door, when youth reverse the Halloween tradition to hand adults a sample of Fair Trade chocolate.

The chocolate will be accompanied by a card informing recipients of poverty and child slavery in the cocoa industry, affecting mainstream candy enjoyed at Halloween and around the year, and how Fair Trade Certified chocolate provides a solution.

Want to get involved? There are a few ways you can:

  1. Request a Reverse Trick-or-Treating Kit

    KITS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE

  2. Print and distribute Fair Trade Halloween flyers on Halloween.
    Available here

  3. Register for handing out flyers. We are tracking how many flyers participants will hand out, so we will know if we reached our goal of reaching 250,000 households. Click here to register

  4. Post a photo or video of Reverse Trick-or-Treating at www.5actions.org and www.youtube.com/group/revtrickortreat08.

Be sure to mention that you're from Canada in your post!

  5. Look for the TransFair Canada Mark on products when you shop. Fair Trade Certified products are available in stores across Canada. In choosing Fair Trade chocolate at Halloween, and every other day of the year, you are connecting with the farmers who grow and harvest your food. The guaranteed Fair Trade price paid for cocoa helps to provide farmers with a sustainable livelihood and creates hope for a better future for their children. In addition, Fair Trade certification prohibits the use of abusive child labour.
